Meet Olivia our BuildingWorks Digital Content Author

Olivia takes part in a BuildingWorks Q & A and reveals some interesting facts about herself!

Digital Content- OliviaQ: So you like construction! How far back does your interest go ?

A: As a builder’s daughter, in my youth, I spent many weekends in my hard hat and wellies, following my Dad around building sites!

Q: What’s your career background?

A: I’m a teacher by training and spent 5 years teaching in a school. I decided to make the career change after I had my son. Working for HBXL has allowed me flexibility in my working hours, so that I can spend more time at home with my son.

Q: How long have you worked with the HBXL Group?

A: I’ve worked in various roles for HBXL spanning a period of 13 years – from admin to technical support to my current role as Digital Content Author for the BuildingWorks Support website. Over the years I’ve written software manuals and online help content, and created how-to videos.

Q: What do you like most about the BuildingWorks platform?

A: I really enjoy using the Drawing Module of BuildingWorks, creating my designs and rendering them with the 3D photo visualiser. And I love the fact that if you have the software suite, while you’re drawing your plans, BuildingWorks is working behind the scenes to create your estimate and to produce reports and customer quotes etc. It’s so powerful.

Q: And you like working here?  Answer carefully!

A: HBXL, as a company, has a real family feel; the directors and managers care about their employees and do their best to support our professional development. Company meetings have a really positive vibe; there’s always lots of laughter! As a company, we are passionate about improving the lives of our customers, and their families. As a result, and we all work hard to create software which can help achieve this.

Q: And finally what do you like in particularly about your own role?

A: I enjoy working closely with the programmers and technical guys to learn about the software we’re developing. And, of course, it’s always great to hear that my videos have helped someone to get to grips with the software.

So as our BuildingWorks users watch the really useful videos on the functions and features of the software, they know a bit more on who’s behind them!
